Afreum Bridge exists because at the height of the DEFI craze, there was community demand to bridge the AFR token on Stellar to other blockchains, enabling cross-chain bridging at 1:1 parity between AFR (Stellar) and AFR (BEP 20) on Binance Smart Chain or AFR (ERC 20) on the Ethereum. 100 Million AFR (BEP 20) and 100 Million AFR (ERC 20) were created for this purpose. As part of the Afreum DECENTRALIZATION process, this bridging function is deprecated. Instead, the ecosystem will rely on price arbitrage by users (selling AFR on BSC and buying on Stellar, or vice versa) to achieve convergence between AFR tokens on Stellar and other blockchains.
